Aging with Pride: National Health, Aging, Sexuality and Gender Study is the first federally-funded national longitudinal project designed to better understand the health, aging and well-being over time among LGBTQ adults ages 50 to 100. By examining changes in the lives of LGBTQ older adults and their families, this project examines how resilience, health disparities, and risk and protective factors impact quality of life over time. Caring and Aging with Pride is a pioneering project established to investigate the aging, health and well-being of midlife and older LGBT adults and their caregivers. In 2010, 2,560 LGBT adults ranging from 50 to 95 years of age participated in the largest project to date, generating new knowledge on aging across these diverse communities. Generations with Pride, a nonprofit organization, utilizes findings from Caring and Aging with Pride and Aging with Pride, to design and test evidence-based training for providers of care to LGBTQ older adults, create evidence-based cross generational support programming, and establish a one-stop information, resource and referral to access LGBTQ relevant care and services. The project incorporates an innovative multigenerational framework for training, services and intervention development. Click here to read more.
